Hi! Welcome to Motherhood Heals– I’m Nique

I’m just someone who simply adores life, loves to write about it and enjoys sharing the goodness with others!  I am also a new mother who swoons over sunsets and enjoys eating food so much that it could be a sport. I also love learning to cook new recipes and eating restaurant-quality meals at home.

My faith is the very essence of who I am and being a convert to the Mormon Church has changed my life substantially.  I just love knowing I get to have my family for forever!  I spend my days chasing my baby around the house, the park and the pool, and when I’m not doing that, you can find me in the kitchen or snuggling up with my husband on the couch.

I started this blog as a place to store things that are important to me– and I hope it will mean something to you too.  The name “motherhood heals,” comes from a very personal experience in my own life.  I didn’t have a relationship with my own mother for a long time and it was a difficult and heart-breaking experience to go through.  She suffers from Huntington’s Disease, which is slowly taking her from us.    For years, I struggled through Mother’s days and being jealous of all the people around me who seemed to have such wonderful mothers who were always there to support them.  I vowed to myself that if I were to ever become a mother, I would never let my child hurt or wonder about my love for them.

I have been blessed to become a mom to a sweet little girl named Brooklyn who’s just over a year old and the process of becoming a mother has healed my broken heart.  It has been a literal healing balm for my soul.  If you’ve been through a similar experience, if you understand the depth of a mother’s love, or even if you looking for help or healing of your own, then you’ve come to the right place.  I hope you’ll stay awhile and join me on this journey of mine!

Oh, and if you actually read this, you’re now probably wondering how in the world you say my name…ha, I don’t blame you.  Nique is pronounced like Nicky, not like Neek or Ni-quay.  My full name is Domonique and no, I don’t know why either.  So, now you know me!
